Walk the World
With our theme of "Walk the World" this year, we will share tips with you on how other places encourage walking.

Weeks 7-9 The Grand Finale: Australia!

The Australian government has a great program called "Around Australia in 40 Days Walking Challenge" to encourage secondary school students to increase the amount of movement they do each day. They also loan out pedometers and give prizes of $2500-$10,000 playground equipment  to the winning schools. Check it out!

Weeks 4-6: Tokyo to London

In England there is an extensive walking program. Pedometers are loaned out so you can form the habit of walking. Check out the information on their website to help you with your fitness and walking. There are lots of tips and a wealth of information.

Weeks 1-3: Mexico to Hawaii
In Mexico they like to take advantage of the yearly pilgrimages for exercise such as San Miguel Walk Program for CASA. This 3-day pilgrimage is a once in a lifetime event for anyone who attends.

In Hawaii you will find information all over the communities about the "Step it up" Hawaii program including television, radio and poster ads. This program is designed to encourage everyone to get out and walk 30 minutes a day 5 days a week!

Stop in to our Winamac office and pick up some info on this Hawaiian based program and get a great surprise for your team! (116 E Pearl Street)

Walk it stories!
If you're not walking lots 'o miles like our leaders, no worries! The goal is to walk more! Here's some inspiration from a Walk It participant:
Anyways...I only had 2 miles last week. (weather) but, making an effort to improve each week. I've already gone DOWN one jean size, working on the second! I love it! Love the way I feel after I "powerwalk"; makes me sleep better too! And, it's one of the few things I can do since my stroke- it's increasing my strength/endurance.
